We are presently searching for a Job Captain in our Los Angeles office. The Job Captain, while working under general supervision of a Senior Job Captain and/or Architect or Project Manager, provides design support primarily in project administration, design development and contract documents.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Creates contract documents (CDs).
Reviewing CDs to ensure compliance with firm standards, mechanical and building systems, codes and ADA requirements.
Ensures compliance with CAD standards.
Coordinating consultants' work to ensure timely submission of documents.
Coordinating all engineering work to ensure compliance with the design solution.
Manages projects through contract administration phase.
Managing contract documents and contract administration within established budgets.
Develops and represents lead technical viewpoint on projects.
Provides technical solutions to design dilemmas.
Ensures technical adherence to office and firm-wide standards.
Contributes to local and firm-wide business development goals.
May have management responsibilities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited architecture or design school.
5+ years experience producing commercial interior design projects.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Extensive knowledge of the commercial interior architecture and/or design industry, including a working knowledge of equipment and materials, space requirements, and design standards and principles.
Advanced documentation and field observation skills.
Extensive knowledge of building systems, codes and ADA requirements.
Extensive contract administration knowledge, including completion of contract documents.
Expert interior architectural detailing skills.
Extensive knowledge of equipment and materials.
Extensive knowledge of space requirements.
Extensive knowledge of design standards and principles.
Intermediate MS Office application skills.
Intermediate skills using a project management software application, MS Project preferred.
Advanced AutoCAD/ADT skills.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
Intermediate presentation and graphic communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage and lead staff through a combination of direct authority and subject-matter expertise.
Working knowledge of budget preparation and proven ability to manage projects within budgetary constraints.
Working Conditions: For the majority of the time the Job Captain will be sitting in an office with limited physical requirements. This may require individuals to bend, stretch, twist and reach. On occasion individuals will be required to visit a client site to perform site verifications and field surveys. The position is not subject to occupational and safety risks.
