The Interior Design Program at TCU invites dynamic, versatile, design-focused applicants who demonstrate strength in digital media for 2d and 3d visualization, graphic communication, and design conceptualization. Candidates must have an interest in working collaboratively and constructively with current faculty to advance the pedagogy and deliver courses that inspire students. Qualifications: A terminal Master's degree or International equivalent in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field is required. Applicants with soon-to-be-completed Masters may apply and must be completed prior to start date.
Preference will be given to candidates who:
• Provide evidence of teaching experience, for example in studio instruction illustrated through a visual portfolio of student work or evidence of teaching in an academic or professional setting. • Provide evidence of work experience in Interior Design and/or Architectural related fields, particularly strength of design practice illustrated through a visual portfolio of professional work. • Provide evidence of use of industry-specific technologies which may include but are not limited to Revit, AutoCAD, the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and rendering/visualization software.
• Teach 4 undergraduate courses in Interior Design per semester including design studio and seminar courses. • Courses to be taught will include: Digital Media for Interior Design (focus upon Revit and digital rendering) and design studios. • Courses to be taught may include: Construction Documentation. • Advise undergraduate Interior Design students • Service to the Department, College, and University • Continued professional development • If not NCIDQ, the candidate will sit for the NCIDQ exam by 2020; time and resources to prepare for the exam will be provided by TCU
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Department of Interior Design and Fashion Merchandising, part of the College of Fine Arts, employs 11 full-time faculty members (5 faculty for Interior Design and 6 faculty for Fashion Merchandising). The Interior Design faculty instructs approximately 70 majors. The department is also home to the Center for Lighting Design Education, offering an Architectural Lighting Design Minor.
