The Los Angeles office of SmithGroupJJR is looking for an experienced Project Manager to provide leadership to the project team and work closely with our clients on projects in the Healthcare arena. We are seeking a talented individual that is committed to design excellence in the Healthcare market sector, who thrives in and promotes an environment of collaboration and who demonstrates a high degree of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
Working with us, you will:
Provide leadership and management necessary for all facets of a project.
Assure the project design is fully developed and complete for the entire project, design decisions are consistent throughout and translated into coherent well-organized documents using company standard methods to the greatest degree possible. Oversee design schedule to insure that design decisions and documentation are complete at critical milestones.
Understand project contract and responsibilities of SGJJR, Consultants, Clients, etc.
Leads the development of the project and delivery processes that are relevant to each project’s unique circumstances.
Initialize and gain Owner approval of all additional services. Set up additional services with method of payment and schedule as required.
Develop and define project schedule to meet contractual obligations and to match team size and skills.
Lead the development of complete documents for architectural aspects and coordinate consultants work for all other documents.
Ensure the project goals and deadlines are met.
Assist in or reviews invoices for clients and consultants.
Provide technical and administrative supervision to the architectural staff assuring the technical, administrative and schedule targets are met within the framework of corporate policy and in accordance with applicable professional and corporate standards.
Make authoritative decisions and recommendations of significant impact on the project activities, guidelines, quality control standards and details.
Develops team staffing structure in concert with the PIC and PA.
Coordinates project resource requirements.
Leads/coordinates communication efforts with client, consultants and within project team.
Leads the development of Agency Approval and Implementation strategies appropriate to the unique circumstances of each project.
Develops and maintains a collaborative, mentoring team culture, which encourages the development of project staff.
Reviews performance, counsels and mentors individual team members.
Visits construction sites to gather information, answer contractor questions and prepare punch list as owner's representative.
An ideal candidate has:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience managing large-scale healthcare projects from the initial design phases through construction.
Minimum of 5 years managing California healthcare projects under the jurisdiction of OSHPD.
Demonstrated effectiveness in working in a team setting, communicating with others, customer satisfaction and technical competence.
Minimum professional degree in Architecture or equivalent combination of related experience and/or training.
Proficiency with Revit.
Microsoft Word and Excel experience preferred.
Registration as an Architect licensed in the State of California preferred. Experience and ability are major contributors in lieu of registration.
LEED AP preferred.

We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, and pay for 8 federal holidays. We also offer an alternative work schedule that provides employees with an additional 15 days off per year (usually Fridays) to help with work/life balance.
