As a Landscape Architect at GRW/Chapman Technical Group, you will work closely with registered landscape architects and other professional colleagues assisting in the planning and designing of projects such as parks and other recreational facilities, sidewalks and streetscapes, recreational trails, boating facilities, and public spaces. GRW/Chapman Technical Group offers a challenging work environment and growth opportunities in West Virginia and Kentucky, depending on your personal capabilities, interest, aptitude, and motivation. The Landscape Architect position will include but not be limited to these responsibilities:
Confer with clients, engineers, surveyors, planners, and other architects regarding projects
Compile and analyze data about geographic locations, soil, vegetation and natural features, drainage, and location of structures to prepare design documents
Prepare site plans, working drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for land development including site layout, grading and drainage, and landscaping for roads, walks, parking areas, fences, walls and utilities while coordinating arrangement of existing and proposed land features and structures
Work primarily on technical aspects but act as project leader or handle project management tasks as needed
Perform site visits and inspections
Prepare drawings and present ideas for client review including renderings and animations
Chapman is seeking the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture
Professional Landscape Architect (PLA) registration or progress towards registration
0-5 years related experience
Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D
Proficiency in 3-D rendering programs (SketchUp, Shaderlight, Photoshop)
Ability to calculate drainage and storm run-off
Knowledge of horizontal and vertical road design
Excellent oral and written English communication skills to effectively write reports and business correspondence, and present information and respond to questions from managers, clients and the general public.
High level of organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills
Ability to plan project resources, maintain schedules and stay within budget
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Desire, motivation and ability to exceed the firm's and clients' expectations
