Supervises and coordinates several concurrent planning projects, studies and activities with responsibility for a major functional segment of the total city planning program; and performs other related duties as required.
Current vacancy: Serves as Chief of the Community Planning Branch supervising the development of long range regional and neighborhood plans, including urban design plans, transit-oriented development plans, and community plans where design is a major consideration.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in architecture. Work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.

Three (3) years of professional architectural experience in physical land use planning, environmental design or other related activities involving environmental analysis and review of the design and compatibility of structures with their surroundings, one of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity; AND
Three (3) years as a registered architect.
Having the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as qualifying for the position. Your overall experience must have been of such scope, level and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Current State of Hawaii registration as a professional architect at time of application; AND
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, prior to appointment.
