Our practices offer local, national and international projects of all sizes including opportunities with our other offices. Working with us, you will:
Manage and mentor healthcare planning staff. Responsibilities include:
Work with Health Studio Leaders to assign healthcare planners to projects based on expertise, past experience, and availability. Assign support personnel as required.
Maintain staffing chart for healthcare planning and attend monthly staffing meeting with the Director of Operations and disciplines leads. Attend bi-monthly healthcare staffing meeting.
Provide mentorship and guidance to healthcare planning staff
Organize monthly healthcare planning training luncheons to promote staff development
Promote healthcare planning internally. The goal is to create interest in order to grow staff.
Collaborate with other planning leaders for staff assignments and staff development
Interface with healthcare practice leader and planning leads from other SmithGroupJJR offices to elevate healthcare across the corporation and differentiate SmithGroupJJR from our competitors.
Possible initiatives include gathering data/benchmarks from past/current projects in a repository that is easily accessible to all healthcare staff members.
Periodic participation in health practice activities including calls, meetings, and initiatives.
Participate in business development activities including the following:
Assist with proposal development. This includes establishing schedules for healthcare planning activities, fee development, providing written description for planning project examples, and text describing the planning process.
Assist with the development of presentation material and participate in interviews. Concisely describe the planning process and how our team will interface with the client to provide value, return on investment, and minimize risk.
Elevate healthcare thought leadership by developing white papers for publication and/or presentations at national healthcare conferences
Maintain client contacts in order to grow healthcare studio and diversify portfolio.
Collaborate with healthcare studio leaders to update business plan.
Prepare high level architectural concept plans, diagrams, and data visualization.
Independently evaluate, select and apply standard planning techniques, procedures and criteria using judgment for minor adaptations and modifications.
Work from plans/designs of others to compile data and perform design computations.
Visit hospital facilities to gather information.
Conduct client meetings.
Receive instruction on specific assignment objectives and independently provide solutions for these objectives.
An ideal candidate has:
7-15 years’ experience with professional degree in Architecture, with experience in planning for Health and/or Science & Technology projects preferred.
Veterans Administration project experience a plus.
Knowledge of planning criteria – e.g. size of a typical Operating Room, Exam Rooms; adjacencies, etc.
Architectural Registration preferred.
LEED AP or LEED BD+C or LEED GA accreditation preferred.
On-the-job experience using Revit to produce construction documents.
High proficiency with graphic programs, such as Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Photoshop, Illustrator and In-Design programs.
Ability to travel 20-40%
SmithGroupJJR offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefit package, including 401(k) and continuing educational reimbursement. We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, and pay for 8 federal holidays. We also offer an alternative work schedule that provides employees with an additional 15 days off per year (usually Fridays) to help with work/life balance.
