KSMA is seeking a Job Captain to join the team with 10 + years’ experience in Type V construction and 3-5 years of Job Captain experience. The ability to develop and coordinate technical architectural documents during all phases of projects, effectively coordinate production of construction documents and construction administration is required. Strong organizational and communication skills are mandatory as well as the ability to work in a team environment. The responsibilities of this position include:
Work under the direction of the Principal and Project Managers
Direct and coordinate architectural drawings and technical documents during project
Develop and coordinate project drawings and specifications as required to meet program goals, code and agency compliance while meeting budget and deadlines
Prepare documents through all project phases while directing the drafting team and coordinating project consultants. Coordinate construction administration during implementation of projects
Provide technical and design experience required to facilitate a productive, innovative and collaborative work environment directing project team members, while ensuring firm procedures and standards are followed
Provide support to accounting department for monthly billing and review of timesheets while managing project budgets and schedules
The requirements of this position include:
A professional degree in Architecture
Significant experience in custom designed architectural projects, renovation and light commercial construction
Historic preservation experience beneficial
Ability to develop and coordinate all phases of architectural and construction documents
Excellent communicator and collaborative team player
Thorough knowledge of local, state and national U.S. Building/Code requirements/ regulations
Excellent AutoCAD and 2-dimensional drawing abilities
Experience with AIA Standards for construction/contract administration phase procedures
Ability to develop and maintain budgets and schedules

Kelly Sutherlin McLeod, AIA, serves as principal-in-charge/project architect for all projects. Ms. McLeod personally manages and oversees work produced by office staff and consultants through all phases of projects, serves as primary contact with client and agencies and directs the design work required for the firm's projects. The firm's in-house architectural staff assists Ms. McLeod with project management, design development and technical production services.
