The Associate City Planner – Urban Design Limited will contribute design review, urban design, and graphic design support to the Planning Services work program. Other responsibilities will include supporting citywide and small area planning, regulatory plan implementation, infrastructure investment projects and partnership opportunities. Example job duties include:
Reviewing, examining, and interpreting applications for compliance to applicable codes, policies, and standards.
Utilizing a variety of computer graphic software to convey design intent and choices for work sessions, presentations and final document materials
Collecting and analyzing socio-economic, land use, transportation and demographic data for small area and citywide planning projects
Researching relevant subject matter, best practices and case studies
Preparation and support for internal and external stakeholder work sessions
Bachelor's Degree in City or Regional Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a directly related degree.
One year professional city or regional planning experience or one year of experience creating, drawing, and rendering urban design plans and concepts.
A Master's Degree in City or Regional Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a directly related degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
Preferred candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills; enjoy solving problems – especially procedural ones; evidence academic and/or practical experience with zoning regulations (especially form-based codes); a desire to work with and assist customers; and exhibit an authentic interest in and enthusiasm for all things zoning. Licensure and/or Certification: Possession of a valid driver's license at the time of application
