dPOP seeks a creative self-starter to join our team as a Senior Lead Designer. With a passion for provocative design and a dedication to client satisfaction this person will lead and manage the efforts of the design team. Exceptional communication skills and a positive attitude are required to build and foster relationships with dPOP’s amazing clients. Subject Matter Expertise: Exceptional Client Service.
Serve as the primary point of contact for client throughout entire design process
Attend and lead all client meetings
Manage client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination to ensure all client goals and objectives are met
Maintain strong client communication throughout entire design and construction process
Manage client interaction and decision making related to Design team
Establish and maintain ongoing relationships built on trust with clients, vendors, contractors, architects, etc.
Demonstrate ability to lead and get along with team members and resolve design conflicts within the team
Manage design process throughout the entire project; lead/direct the work of the design team
Develop expertise on projects based on varying scales of work, scope of projects and phases of design.
Create and develop overall design concepts; formulate design presentation strategies and lead client presentations.
Oversee the following design efforts of the design team:
Develop innovative design concepts that are reflective of client goals within project budget
Render conceptual, schematic and design development drawings
Select and specify furniture, finishes, lighting and artwork
Develop design contract, set fees, and estimate hours for project duration
Ensure projects conform to contract
Create and communicate clear and attainable project objectives and project requirements
Identify and communicate project deliverables and deadlines for design team.
Update leadership team on reporting and financial forecasting for all projects.
Creating efficiencies for team members hours allocation
Marketing and Communication Responsibility
Finalize presentation material for initial client meetings
Coordinate with marketing director for project documentation including written descriptions, website review, award submissions, etc.
Schedule and lead photoshoot direction to document projects after completion
Knowledge of drawing design techniques, tools and principles
Knowledge of construction methodology, materials and manufacturers
Experience in both office and field process of construction
Strong sense of urgency and an ability to learn and act in a fast-paced environment
Proficient task management and project management skills
High level of motivation and passion for design
Demonstrate ability to lead and get along with project team
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; both verbal and written
Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail
Ability to consistently meet deadlines and create next steps
Involvement in community and industry organizations
Ability to travel periodically
Graduate or undergraduate degree in: Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design from an accredited college or university.
7+ years related work experience in Workplace Design and/or Hospitality Design.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) AutoCAD, and high proficiency in a 3D modeling software including but not limited to: Revit, SketchUp, and/or 3Ds Max.
Experience in Specifying Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E)
Advanced graphic and verbal presentation skills, including hand sketching, required
Maintained strong relationships with clients, architects, contractors, and necessary vendors to ensure proper design execution
Encouraged team to create facility-minded design solutions
Prepared and delivered contracts in a timely manner after initial client meeting
Followed up on leads in a thoughtful and purposeful way
Established and maintained project momentum
Conducted weekly meetings with design team to review project development, as needed
Attended conferences and seminars to maintain and stay current on latest design trends, technology, and dialogue
Created opportunities for team member design discourse and development
