dPOP seeks a team member that can operate in a fast paced and dynamic environment and has experience in architectural practice and conceptual design. As a member of the team, this individual needs to have strong understanding of the built environment, building technology and trends related to commercial interiors.
Must have a thorough knowledge of building codes, the building permit process and AIA standard contracts.
Coordinate with in-house design team, consultants, contractors, vendors, fabricators and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.
Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination.
Preparation of architectural drawings for all project phases, including presentations, space planning, concepts, schematics, design development and construction documents, and perform construction administration for small to medium sized projects.
Take an active role in a local professional association.
Utilize good judgment and reasoning abilities during stressful situations
Present design solutions to client representatives and/or design review committees.
Enforce guidelines, quality control, standards and details.
Manage projects, including negotiating project scope and fees, job production and quality, fee management and invoicing.
Gather materials necessary for projects based on palette selection and design scheme
Collaborate on commercial interiors projects: including identifying client needs, developing design solutions from conceptual, to schematic, and completing final design development.
Accurately specify and procure furniture
Create photo realistic renderings
Prepare presentation material for client meetings
Proficiency in creating and following budgets
Develop accurate and complete construction documents as needed for permitting process
Oversee construction administration process, develop and respond to RPI’s
Job site review, construction management
Manage multiple clients with varying scale of works and project scopes
Ability to develop value engineering (VE) options to adhere to client’s budget needs
Strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills
Task and project management skills
Tendency toward proactive problem solving, attention to detail and a well-organized design process
Ability to travel periodically
Portfolio of commercial, hospitality and workplace projects
LEED and NCARB certification preferred
Registered architect in good standing [state of Michigan]
5-7 years of related professional architectural experience in commercial interiors with an accredited degree in architecture
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Proficiency in 3D modeling software, including SketchUp [3ds Max, Revit/BIM preferred]
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign),and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in Specifying Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E)
Advanced graphic and verbal presentation skills, including hand sketching, required
