NORR is seeking Architectural Project Captains to join the Chicago office of their growing International Architectural and Engineering consulting firm. Typical projects include restaurant, retail and hospitality projects. Applicants should enjoy working in a fast-paced yet informal studio atmosphere and should be able to handle multiple projects at once. Typical responsibilities include:
Leading small projects or components of large projects
Acting as project designer on smaller projects
Attending team meetings, client meetings and making client presentations
Evaluation of site conditions, zoning requirements and site constraints
Site surveys to document existing conditions
Meeting with authorities having jurisdiction to establish requirements and present design
Developing design drawings and schedules and providing direction to more junior design staff
Refining design options and developing building details
Ensuring elements of the design, modeling and detailing adhere to relevant jurisdictional codes
Coordination with other disciplines and key stakeholders to exchange information, provide project status updates and coordinate resources
Processing permit response letters and coordinating revisions with engineers and consultants as required to obtain necessary documentation and permits
Field reviews to monitor construction progress
Preparing RFI responses and submittal reviews
The following criteria are required or desired:
Experience with AutoCAD required
Experience with Revit required
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud required
Proficiency with SketchUp or Rhino required
LEED AP is a plus
Applicants must have a professional Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited university. Professional registration or licensure is a plus.
