One of the nation's leading Planning, Architectural and Interior Design firms is searching for a Project Architect with 3 – 8 years of experience to work in their Baltimore office.
Part architect, part mentor, and part client liaison, Chambers’ Project Architect will fulfill a unique role in the company. In addition to your duties as an architect, you will also serve as a leader, supervisor, and mentor to the staff.
Under the supervision of the Architectural Director, the Project Architect will coordinate efforts with all associated technical disciplines to ensure that deliverables are on target. You will spend a portion of your days leading the production team in preparation, QA, QC, and construction document review. Independently preparing Construction Drawings and Details, including building envelope, is an essential part of the position. You will also conduct code review and compliance.
Additionally, the Project Architect will also serve as a potential contact for our high-end private club clientele.
First and foremost, a qualified candidate will have proven project architectural experience in leading and developing designs for architectural projects and managing the design process from pre-design/programming through construction administration. Our ideal match will have demonstrated contract administration capabilities, as well as working knowledge of building codes, CSI specifications, and AIA procedures. Fluency in AutoCAD or Revit is a must, though additional software is certainly a plus.
The ideal candidate possesses significant experience working with expanded project teams including engineering consultants, general contractors, and vendors. With this comes the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. The ability to meet aggressive deadlines and surpass high client expectations is essential for success in this position. Preference will go to candidate with demonstrated mentoring and coaching abilities, as well as sharp written and verbal communication skills.
We are searching for a candidate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture. Licensed candidates are preferred. Experience in hospitality design and a great portfolio will make you stand out from other candidates with similar qualifications.
Founded in 1899 to provide the finest painting and decorative finishing in Baltimore, the underlying philosophy of the H. Chambers Company has always been: to be and provide the best. Through the years, Chambers has grown, evolving with our industry and to meet the needs of our clientele. We’ve designed hotels around the world and luxury cruise ships, fine residences, clubs and commercial spaces, ...and have had the opportunity to be among the select few who have designed for the White House. Today, we offer a full range of services, including strategic and master planning, architecture, interior design, purchasing and installation. Much of our work in recent decades has focused on country, golf and city clubs. It has earned us considerable distinction — Chambers was most recently named 'Clubhouse Design Firm of the Year' in 2014 by BoardRoom Magazine and received recognition from Golf Inc. Magazine for our work at St. Clair Country Club in PA for the '2014 Clubhouse Renovation of the Year'. Still, we maintain a strong foothold in commercial, residential and healthcare architecture and design. We also consistently appear on the list of the Top 100 Interior Design Firms in the United States by Interior Design magazine since the inception of the program in the 1970s. While we’ve grown considerably in scope over the years, Chambers has purposefully stayed a small shop. It lets us stay creative, hands on and focused on doing exceptional work. It ensures we remain…the best. We look forward to another century of designing spaces that enhance the lives of those who use them to live, work and play.
