Real Estate Assets and Development is a unit within the Senior Vice Chancellor’s office, Finance and Administrative Services, and is responsible for all UCSF Campus and Medical Center real estate activities in support of UCSF’s teaching, research, health care, and community services missions. The department manages a portfolio of over one million square feet of leased properties at an annual base rental cost of approximately $50 million per year and manages tenant improvements and third party development projects ranging from $50-$150 million per year. The department provides asset management services for UCSF’s real estate portfolio and structures and negotiates commercial real estate transactions for Campus and Medical Center real estate acquisition, disposition, and development ranging from new building construction to tenant improvements in leased properties for research laboratories, clinic spaces, offices, residential uses, animal facilities, and other technical academic research and healthcare facilities for Campus and Medical Center needs.

The Facilities Manager position is responsible for the day to day facilities management of leased properties occupied by UCSF departments and will be reporting to the Sr. Facilities Manager.
At the direction of Sr. Facilities Manager, the Facilities Manager provides and is accountable for day to day facilities management activities including maintaining landlord tenant relations; physical and financial facilities planning for leased properties; coordination of alterations and repairs and maintenance of HVAC, security, and other building systems; and of janitorial and hazardous materials services; and day to day resolution and coordination of property management and facilities issues in leased sites.
The Facilities Manager uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional and implements and coordinates building management procedures and space planning activities. Develops space allocation project scope, schedule and budget plans for management review, implements and makes recommendations for new and revised procedures. Oversees various facilities-related operational activities. Has general knowledge about several operational functions. Work is assigned and reviewed by Sr. Facilities Manager at one on one meetings. Works independently with little instruction or direct day to day supervision on daily work, general instructions on new assignments. May function as a lead and resource.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Required Qualifications •Bachelor degree in architecture, engineering and five years minimum of experience in construction related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience •Must have experience in project management and experience in tenant improvement work •Must be familiar with all phases of the real estate development process, real estate terminology, building operating costs analyses, building operating systems and be able to read and interpret legal document provisions •Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database systems are needed to perform the duties of this position •Thorough knowledge in the areas of building space planning, codes, capacity, security, fire safety, organization and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences •Thorough interpersonal skills including good service orientation and effective problem solving •Thorough and effective skills to multi-task and prioritize daily activities effectively •Must be a strong team player •Fingerprinting and background check
Preferred Qualifications •Knowledge of architectural or engineering concepts •Knowledge of University administration
