Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Specific duties may vary and other duties may be assigned.
Manages project budgets and vendor contracts for consultants and contractors. Monitors all project information including deeds, master plans, design documents, correspondence, construction history, and expenditure record.
Represents the City and the Department and serves as liaison to committees, boards, commissions, citizen groups and other governmental agencies. Oversees and facilitates public participation processes in accordance with the Department policy.
Compiles and analyzes data on site conditions and prepares site plans, working drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for land development, showing ground contours, vegetation, locations of structures, and facilities such as roads, walks, parking areas, fences, walls, and utilities, coordinating arrangement of existing and proposed land features and structures.
Develops bid documents, obtains permits, prepares all necessary contract forms and documents and manages bidding process.
Works with consultants and contractors and manages the design and construction of large-scale land and facility development projects. Reviews project documents such as soil reports, design drawings and specifications, engineering calculations, shop drawings, etc., for compliance with City standards and codes as well as State and Federal regulations.
Performs construction administration including coordinating contract execution, reviewing pay applications, approving change orders, and conducting project close-out. Inspects construction work in progress to ensure compliance with project specifications, to approve quality of materials and work, and to advise clients and construction personnel on project needs and procedures.
Conducts research and special studies pertaining to landscape and facility development, maintenance, and landscape regulations and ordinances.
Participates in city- and department-wide team activities working on specific issues and assignments.
Prepares reports and recommendations on performance measures, project records, costs, and general project status.
Prepares grant applications and coordinates grant submission for specific capital projects.
