Suffolk University invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Campus Construction Services Manager. Reporting to the Director of Campus Construction Services, administer a variety of ongoing projects and space initiatives. Responsible for a number of essential campus tasks including campus moves, signage, furniture replacement and space tracking. Monitor, track and provide regular reports on all capital and construction budgets. Coordinate the contract and payment process and other functions in support of campus construction and renovation projects. Perform other duties within the broader Campus Services division as required and provide supervision and direction to consultants and student staff as needed.
•Manage a variety of school and department annual capital improvement projects
•Assist departments with the development of project concepts and cost estimates
•Maintain historical documentation regarding all campus construction and capital projects
•Implement and maintain campus signage and way finding systems
•Ensure all construction documentation, including as builds and operating manuals, are provided at the end of each capital project
•Maintain department construction project management software
Space and Asset Management
•Create and maintain University space use database
•Coordinate interoffice moves and other relocations
•Work with individuals to lay out office furniture plans
•Ensure all campus plans are up to date and reflect existing conditions
•Create and maintain surplus furniture database
•Organize furniture replacement/repair projects and installations
•Assist departments with selection of furniture and coordination of ordering, scheduling and installation
•Track and report on annual capital improvement and construction budgets in cooperation with the Finance Office.
•Provide expense reporting for construction and projects on a regular basis to various constituencies
•Prepare financial projections as required
•Maintain historical database of construction and project related expenses
•Using standard templates prepare documents and process contracts with various architectural, engineering and construction firms along with a variety of general service providers
•Consult with internal and external counsel to draft and review contracts
•Consult with University Risk Manager to ensure appropriate levels of contractor insurance coverage
•Utilize University software to generate and track contracts
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Design or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three to five years of directly related experience
Experience in higher education preferred
Experience in construction project management
Proficient in working with computers, Microsoft Office and construction related software
Knowledge of construction methods and materials
Experience working with construction documents
Ability to compile and analyze data
Demonstrated planning and organizational skills including the ability to set and adjust priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all people
Excellent listening and responding skills
Able to work both independently and as part of a team
