The role of the Junior Architect is to assist Registered Architect in facilitating the needs of the client and may conduct statistical studies to analyze production costs.
Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, or drawings.
Prepare specifications, designs, or sketches for buildings and for building systems, including, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and civil engineering
Provide technical support to other employees regarding architecture engineering
Prepare cost and materials estimates or project schedules for buildings.
Analyze or estimate construction costs, such as labor, equipment, or materials.
Participate in technical coordination meetings with subcontractors and project staff.
Assist in executing coordination between, design professionals and contractors from issuance of construction drawings to approval of work permits
Review and verify all required documentation, certifications, clearance items, letters, and reports.
Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.
Coordinate structural, electrical, and mechanical designs and determine a method of presentation to graphically represent building plans.
Obtain and assemble data to complete architectural designs, visiting job sites to compile measurements as necessary.
Prepare cost estimates and technical reports for specific projects under an architect's supervision.
Finish and duplicate drawings and documentation packages, according to required mediums and specifications for reproduction using blueprinting, photography, or other duplicating methods.
Assist in review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from civil engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts.
Correlate, interpret, and modify data obtained from topographical surveys, well logs, and geophysical prospecting reports.
Assist in obtain required approvals from other city agencies (MTA, DEP, DEC, Etc.)
Assist the examination documents, materials, and track progress of elevations applications
Monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to program standards
Assist in preparation and obtain all documents required for Department of Buildings Final Sign off
Effectively communicate relevant project information to elevations sub-consultants and Elevation team members.
Maintain files, such as maintenance of applicant records, updated Certificate of Occupancy, Plot Cards, and department of building permits.
Assist in preparation in detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings and structures according to specifications provided by architect.
Some travel required
Perform other duties, responsibilities and activities directed by IBTS management as assigned at any time with or without notice.
Identify, determine, and apply best practices in job documentation.
Must have knowledge of Building and Construction industry, including and not limited to materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, exterior landings, steps, or other structures related to clients property.
Communicate effectively to IBTS staff, contractors, homeowners, clients of the New York City Build it Back
Foster positive attitude towards IBTS staff, contractors, homeowners, and clients in accordance to New York City Build it Back program.
Must have the ability to speak, read, and write the English language with proficiency.
Deliver the required materials and findings accurately in a timely manner.
Use critical thinking and problem solving to recognize issues as well as identifying quality control in accordance to New York City Build it Back program.
Document project progress and/or delays through elevations data recording servers.
Requires Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or any related field; or in lieu of Associates degree in Engineering, Architecture or any related field with 2 years of experience in construction industry with high school diploma or its equivalent.
Knowledge of E-filing and related Department of Buildings (DOB) forms for initial filing, Post approval amendments (PAAs), Sign Offs (Builder Pavement Plan and Builder Pavement Plan waivers is a plus)
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Oracle, AutoCad (preferred), Vectorworks (preferred), Quick Base (preferred), Content Management System (CMS) (preferred).
Preferred knowledge of the New York City Building Information System (BIS), Department of Transportation, Department of Finance, Oasis Websites and other related agency websites
