You will be responsible for overseeing the San Francisco and Los Angeles accounting groups and providing considered financial reporting and counsel to the leadership group as well as recommending financial strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Overall responsibility for monthly office financials on both a cash and accrual basis in line with firm-wide deadlines.
Analytic ability to see trends and recommend strategies to improve business performance.
Ensure that all projects are being appropriately accounted for, including an up-to-date project plan of resourcing and costs in the Accounting Software system.
Prepare a full budget and milestone reforecasts to the end of the fiscal year, including an assessment of billings, collections of fee revenue and staff levels.
Provide financial leadership to project teams in support of competing for new work.
Review and submit sales tax returns.
Lead staff in developing and performing internal audit functions to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Oversee client invoicing. Ensure all invoices are issued as appropriate on a timely basis with required back-up.
Provide guidance and support to Project Managers in support of collecting outstanding receivables.
Ensure that all bank accounts are reconciled on a routine and timely basis.
Oversee and assist with special projects as assigned.
Desired Skills and Expertise:
Degree in Accounting and CPA, preferred
Minimum of 15 years of accounting experience with a minimum of 10 years as a Controller, Assistant Controller or equivalent, Public Accounting background preferable
Minimum 3 years of Project Accounting experience
Experienced in Office Management, Staff Management, Budgeting, Financial Analysis, General Ledger, Payables and Receivables
Excellent communication and project management skills
Hands-on, willing to work with staff and colleagues to enhance processes and comply with firm policies
Ability to interface and build relationships with Partners, Directors, Project Managers, Technical Staff and the Administrative Support Groups
