Facilities Planning and Management at Iowa State University is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Campus Planner. Under the leadership and direction of the Director for Planning Services, this position will be responsible for planning activities that support campus development. Responsibilities include conducting studies related to campus master planning and development; developing campus design principles for campus development, site programming and preliminary planning criteria for capital projects. The Campus Planner will provide planning oversight for campus stewardship for outdoor spaces and environs. The position will be responsible for assisting in the development and presentation of reports and coordinating the work of consultants as needed. Studies and planning information is prepared for use in the development of future plans, and provide decision-makers with information and recommendations around land use, campus capacities, transportation systems and infrastructure systems in a timely way. The position will also support and interface with agencies outside the university for information sharing, and serve as a liaison with other agencies and to represent the university on planning efforts in support of campus planning.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 8 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Degree in a planning related discipline, which includes but is not limited to: Community and Regional Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture.
Experience that demonstrates knowledge of campus planning for institution(s) of higher education and the built environment.
Demonstrated experience in collecting, organizing, analyzing and presenting data for planning including land use, facilities, transportation systems, open space, site development and infrastructure systems is desired.
Experience which demonstrates an understanding for basic planning, design and development principles and process.
Demonstrated knowledge of physical facilities and financial intricacies of a complex organization.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with various agencies.
