Payette, a leading architectural design firm located in downtown Boston, is seeking a Project Accountant. Ideal candidates must possess a superior working knowledge of general accounting principles in a professional working environment. Applicants must have a professional demeanor and be able to communicate and interact with people at every level, including upper management.
Work with Accounting Manager to manage the monthly client billing process.
Manage the collection of all outstanding accounts receivable.
Create spreadsheets to meet all client & project managers’ billing needs.
Responsible for all subcontractor accounts payable functions including maintenance of subcontractor sub-ledger and subcontractor check runs.
Responsible for trade accounts payable functions, including reviewing trade vendor invoices for accuracy and approval as well processing “quick pays” for checks needed immediately.
Communicate with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies.
Work with project managers across the firm to maintain project budgets
Prepare draft invoices & preliminary Project Progress Reports for distribution to project managers each month.
Update accounting software system based on project manager draft invoices
Review printed final invoices and backup to ensure accuracy of billing.
Process uploading of journal entries from vendors to reconcile to payments.
Send W-9s to vendors, when necessary.
Act as backup to Accounting Manager on bank statement reconciliation.
Perform other related accounting tasks as assigned.
BA/BS degree from accredited university
A minimum of 2 years of general accounting experience
Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Detail-oriented, organized and self-disciplined
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads
