Assistant Director, Planning, Design, and Construction (Administrator II) California State University, San Marcos
California State University San Marcos seeks an Assistant Director for their Planning, Design, and Construction department. Reporting to the Director, PDC, the Assistant Director (AD) provides oversight, leadership and strategic direction for the PDC department's functional areas of responsibility. The AD will assist the Director in their responsibility for designing and building campus assets to achieve the highest quality facilities/plant possible. The incumbent will help administer the Campus' Major and Minor capital programs including all new construction, renovation and facility renewal projects. The AD will be accountable for ensuring effective development and implementation of the campus' master plan, updating campus design guidelines/standards and ensure the effective utilization of university space. The AD will assist in the development and administering of the PDC budget. The incumbent will be responsible for the integrity and management of all PDC data and technology. The Assistant Director is charged with providing strong leadership and management to Facilities Development and Management (FDM) and establishing a healthy culture of teamwork, transparency, and collaboration. The AD will work together with his/her team as well as other campus and non-campus stakeholders, including the Chancellor's Office, to ensure a high level of input and collaboration. The AD will assist in the development of operational, financial, employee and customer service goals and plans designed to meet the university's mission and FDM's Strategic Facilities Plan.

Minimum Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction or related field
Plus six years' of progressively responsible related management work experience which includes a minimum of three years' leading and/or supervising the work of others
OR licensed trade professionals with 10 years' experience which includes a minimum of three years' leading and/or supervising the work of others
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction or related field
Professional license in Architecture and/or Engineering
Work experience in an academic setting, ideally Public Higher Education
LEED Accreditation (or working towards)
DBIA Certification (or working towards)
Salary and Position Status:
Full-time position with benefits ending.
Salary is commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected. This position is an Administrator II in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP). MPP positions serve at the pleasure of the President.
