The School of Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks a Coordinator of Student Services and Advising to coordinate graduate and undergraduate student services in the areas of graduate college liaison, graduate admissions, advising, recruitment, and other student activities for the Illinois School of Architecture (ISoA).

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Graduate Admissions and Advising
Manage the graduate admissions process for students entering the M.Arch, M.S. in Architectural Studies, Ph.D. and joint programs in the School of Architecture, including the following: evaluate credentials and requirements, advise applicants, coordinate the processing, and evaluation of materials with the relevant administrators, and faculty; communicate admissions decisions to applicants; and serve as a liaison to administrators, faculty, the Graduate College, and other campus offices.
Advise international graduate students in architecture on policies and process for I-20s, Sevis/Visa as well as ISoA procedures.
Coordinate the School’s graduate financial aid process, including monitoring the assistantship budget, and working with faculty, administrators, and staff to coordinate aid awards and assistantship work assignments.
Provide direct academic advising of graduate students and undergraduate seniors in the architecture curriculum on all aspects of the graduate program, including but not limited to admissions, plan of study, jobs, and fellowships.
Coordinate all fellowship funding within the School, including preparing Graduate College fellowship applications; advising and monitoring scholarship allocations for the School’s degree programs; and submitting fellowship requests and waiver requests.
Monitor and provide support, resources, and referrals for students on academic probation, including reminding students of petitioning deadlines and coordinating the submission of petitions to the Graduate College.
Serve as the primary contact to the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITLE) to register students for Oral English Exams (EPIs) as well as the Graduate Academy for College Teaching.
Serve as the liaison to all exchange programs. This includes serving as the exchange coordinator for students who attend UIUC in the academic year and for Architecture students who travel in the summer term to these programs.
Operate and maintain comprehensive records and information using current campus, college, and Graduate College computing systems, including serving as the School's contact for graduate student records.
Compile reports and respond for requests for information using graduate student data, in compliance with applicable campus and legal requirements such as FERPA.
Coordinate the assignment of studio, classroom and review spaces for the purpose of assigning classes and conducting midterm and final reviews
Manage the ISoA Ph.D. program with the Ph.D Committee Chair.
Coordinate and manage all aspects of Graduate Program activities such as fall and spring graduate student orientation week.
Coordinate the school’s Design Studio Review process, including assigning students to studios, coordinating the review calendar, contacting and scheduling outside reviewers, and coordinating changes to the schedule.
Work with the Associate Director of Undergraduate Student Services to coordinate the management of school activities, which include but are not limited to the Annual Architecture Awards (A3), Career XPO, and Graduation, NOMAS Symposium, and Barcelona presentations.
Coordinate recruiting activities by enlisting staff and students to assist as team members as well as providing activities for them to facilitate.
Serve as a backup to the Associate Director(s) to coordinate and attend recruitment events as necessary.
Occasional travel will be required.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
Three years of relevant work experience. Experience working with diverse and underrepresented populations.
Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or related field.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible academic professional position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date.
