The University of Louisville is seeking a Director for University Planning, Design and Construction (UPDC). This position provides professional guidance and services to the university for campus planning, space programming and management, capital budgeting, architecture, interior design, construction management and classroom scheduling. This position will report to the Assistant Vice President for Facilities Management. Key Responsibilities: • Lead all aspects of day-to-day planning, design and construction activities including establishing goals, objectives, managing operating budgets, monitor and control costs within allocated funding. • Oversees process of defining the function, scope and cost for capital programs as well as preparation of the university capital budget and capital plan. • Monitor consultant contracts; monitors contractor compliance with code and compliance with applicable codes and regulations; reviews construction bids to ensure compliance. • Manage design consultants, as well as selection, purchasing and installation of furnishings and equipment. • Responsible for master plans for all three campuses, managing space allocation and scheduling including systems implemented and training for campus. • Development of relationships with external governmental and community relations with metro, state and regulatory agencies as well as our neighbors and other groups, i.e., Regional Airport Authority, Speed Museum,University of Louisville Foundation, etc.
Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Construction Management, Government or related field. Ten years' experience in project planning, design, development, or capital programs management, five years of which with progressively responsible management experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted. Licensed Architect in the state of Kentucky.
