We’re looking for a full-time Designer to join our team in Connecticut.
The role includes designing auditorium and seating layouts for new and renovated performing arts spaces. You’ll use your design and graphics skills to create hand sketches and translate them into CAD, or you may design directly in CAD. You’ll plan and lay out building to create and maintain critical adjacencies. You’ll use tact and persuasion in client/architect meetings to advocate for your design decisions for the benefit of the users and the performing arts.
As part of the job, we'll expect you to:
Participate in in-house design, graphics, and drafting work
Perform CAD work, including creating standard details and presentation materials
Design auditorium layouts, seating layouts, and details
Act as design lead on some projects, and design second on others
Take on some project management responsibilities, as needed
Travel; a valid passport is required
Our project work is international, so if you speak a foreign language, that'd be a bonus. While you'll be office based for the majority of the time, the job may require occasional travel both in the US and abroad.
The salary for this role depends on your level of experience. In addition, we offer excellent benefits including pension and private medical insurance.
If you’re interested in this position, please email your PDF cover letter, resume, and a link to your online portfolio to email@example.com and put “Designer search” in your subject line. Help us reduce our paper waste—there’s no need to send a hard copy.
We’re looking for someone who will contribute their own perspective, skills, and experience to our projects. Specifically, we're looking for someone with:
Five to ten years of design experience in architecture or the performing arts
An understanding of theatre buildings and theatre equipment
Significant expertise in the latest version of AutoCAD
Familiarity with Revit
Strong layout skills and graphic design sensibility
Strong design sense and willingness to passionately defend design decisions
Bachelor’s degree, minimum; Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
Proof of legal right to work in the United States
Fluency in spoken and written English
A sense of humor
