Senior Architect / Project Manager LOCATION: 1655 W Jackson St. Phoenix, Arizona 85009 JOB SUMMARY This position will be responsible for numerous maintenance projects, CIP, renewal, and customer funded projects, to ensure timely completion, proper design and compliance with state, federal, local codes and jurisdictional requirements. The position take projects from conceptual phase through design then construction administration and project closeout, coordinate work between consultants, contractors, vendors and internal support groups and review and approve design drawings by consultants. The position will also support Design and Construction goals and design vision by gaining unit support of designs prior to execution. Will assist in the interview and hiring of consultants, coordination of project reviews with state officials and ADOT users, work with city and state officials, assist Procurement during bidding and award or construction contracts on projects, participate in field observations and various construction meetings, create budget estimates for planning and construction purposes, create studies and reports to support projects and goals. Will work with ADOA's Building and Planning Section Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: · Provide architectural design and technical services on CIP, Renewal, customer-funded, tenant improvement and maintenance projects. Project responsibility will be from initiation through close-out. Design services including space planning and layouts · Primary point-of-contact on assigned CIP, Renewal, customer-funded and maintenance projects. Prepares the scope-of-work, budget estimates; determines the required project support (internal or outside consultants); develops project timeline and construction schedule · Meets with customers to develop project programming. Determines consultants needed. Develops Request for Qualifications for outside architects and engineers as needed. This position will participate in the consultant selection. Reviews consultant documents accuracy and design intent. · Space planning, furniture layout, equipment layout. Review with customer for functional needs. Work directly with all ADOT retained vendors and internal work force such as ITG. · Construction Administration · Collaborate with Design and Construction Unit staff for peer review of designs, technical assistance, code compliance, and ADA 10 requirements. Brainstorming and problem solution meetings. Support and held direct the Design and Construction unit vision. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: · Building Codes; IBC, ADA regulations and others. · Construction means and methods. · Architectural design, programming, schematic, design development, and construction document preparation, and project management. · Building systems. · Understanding of design principals for office space, storage, shops, and other various types of buildings. · Energy conservation. · Project cost estimating. · Project scheduling. · Field observation requirements. Change order processes. · AIA documents and other contracts. · Accounting and cost control pay applications. · Manage and direct contractors and vendors on site, lead meetings during bidding and negotiation and in the field. Skills in: · Provide the full range of design service of programming, scope of work development, schematic design, design development, construction documents, construction administration and project closeout. · Negotiate costs, construction changes, and alternate design solutions. · Strong written and oral communication skills. · Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor. · Manage schedules, time lines, resolve unanticipated issues/emergencies, prepare plans and specifications. · Proficient in AutoCad 2016 and Revit 2018. · Use of Microsoft Office programs. · Analyze and evaluate a wide variety of technical data including building plans, specifications, site plans, reports and observations.
