Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Design, or a Building or Construction related field of study.
Experience Level: Five to ten years of experience working in the building or construction industry.

We are seeking an Accessibility Specialist to join us. We are a professional consulting firm with unique areas of expertise including the evaluation of real estate and construction for compliance with federal, state, and local accessibility laws, codes, and standards including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Federal Fair Housing Act (FHA). Our work encompasses a variety of product types from commercial to multifamily to public.
In this position you would be; reviewing drawings of proposed construction projects, providing technical advice to clients, visiting projects to verify construction compliance with accessibility laws and codes, creating reports using Word and Excel on laptop computers and Apple iPads, providing project management on projects where accessibility modifications are needed, attending on-site meetings, providing technical training to and being a resource for in-house staff and clients. You will work on a variety of building types including multifamily, commercial, educational, government, and municipal facilities.
The position reports to the Accessibility Group Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Below is a list of the minimum requirements for this position:
Able to travel in and out of state to projects which may require up to 30-50% of travel time,
Able to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines,
Has an understanding of building codes and accessibility standards,
Has a basic knowledge of construction types (Type I, Type III, Type V),
Can create and maintain relationships with a variety of personalities,
Able to educate co-workers and clients on technical accessibility topics,
Currently has a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Design, or a Building or Construction related field of study,
Has 5-10 years of relevant and consecutive work experience in the building or construction industry.
Can compare and question conflicting accessibility standards and codes,
Enjoys meeting new people and creating relationships,
Has a thorough understanding of the building code and the various accessibility codes,
Has a thorough understanding of the construction process,
Can form an educated opinion when all information is not provided on a project,
Can work independently if given minimal direction/instructions,
Has attained an ICC Accessibility Inspector/Plan Examiner, CASp Certification, or ADA Coordinator.
A portion of this work is performed in an office environment; however, all employees are currently performing office work from home. Field work will involve trips to local and out-of-state project sites. Day travel and overnight travel will be required, and expenses will be paid.
