The Madison or Milwaukee office of SmithGroup is looking for a Project Architect to join our team. 

Working with us, you will:

• Lead a team of architects and designers to complete programming, design, detailing, technical documentation, and construction administration for projects of complex nature, including, but not limited to: higher education, workplace, and cultural practices.

• Develop and manage positive client relationships and work as the client’s advocate by identifying and balancing client expectations within the context of contractual obligations, corporate goals, and client satisfaction.

• Communicate with all project participants, internal staff, consultants, clients, owners, contractors, and jurisdictions in an effective and collaborative manner.

• Mentor, provide oversight, and monitor the work performed by junior staff.

• Establish and execute project work plans and staffing requirements. Manage whole or portions of small to mid-sized projects.

• Participate in business development efforts through participating in professional and peer organizations and supporting proposal development and interviews.

• Contribute to a culture of design excellence and thought leadership by understanding and applying practice, cultural, and sustainability drivers in the context of regional and local client projects and opportunities.
