The San Joaquin County Community Development Department located in Stockton, California, is seeking a Senior Plan Check Engineer. The final filing date is Friday, June 25, 2021.
Typical duties include:
Plans, directs, and supervises plan check and review activities; sets work priorities; reviews work of subordinate staff.
Reviews the most complex plans for commercial and other major developments to ensure compliance with codes.
Advises architects, designers, contractors and developers regarding code and design requirements; indicates changes or modifications which would bring plans into conformity.
Confers with applicants for permits; interprets code provision and explains required corrections to applicants.
Assists building inspectors on difficult or unusual code requirements for major structures.
Coordinates plan review activities with consultant plan check engineers.
Recommends changes in policies, codes, and other regulations.
Prepares correspondence and reports.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in civil or structural engineering or architecture. Experience: Two years of professional work designing buildings or examining building plans and ensuring their conformance with applicable codes and ordinances. AND Licenses: (1) Current registration as a civil or structural engineer or architect in the State of California; AND (2) Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
