We are seeking an experienced Senior Specifications Writer to join our team. As a member of the Technical and Quality Assurance team, you will interact with multiple teams and serve as the senior strategic and technical resource for our projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide a full range of services associated with construction specifications including outline specifications, bridging documents, office master specifications and design guidelines. You will also serve as a mentor and leader for innovative and sustainable strategies. This position can be remote or hybrid, with a preference for California or Washington based candidates. Hybrid roles are onsite in our Seattle, San Francisco, or Los Angeles office three days per week.
Role & Responsibilities
Develop specifications in close consultation with project teams in Seattle, San Francisco, and LA, including formatting and file assembly.
Function as a technical resource to the entire firm on materials including research and recommendations for sustainable materials and systems being considered for inclusion into the specifications.
Provide aid in resolving problems relating to use and installation of building materials and products arising during design and construction process.
Attend coordination meetings with clients as needed.
Using CSI Masterformat, continually maintain specification templates up to date as needed including codes standards, reference standards and product identification.
Assist with development of best practices for quality assurance and quality control on issues such as consistent terminology and coordination of drawings and specifications.
Coordinate with the Sustainability Committee Materials team on specifications alignment with achieving firm sustainability goals around low embodied carbon, low emitting materials, and other sustainability criteria.
Strong leadership skills and ability to educate our design team related to selection and specifications of building materials.
Requirements
Professional Architecture degree.
At least 10 years of experience in architecture, including at least five years of writing specifications.
Experience with CSI Masterformat and Uniformat.
Preferred Qualifications
CSI CCS Certification preferred.
CSI membership preferred.
LEED® accreditation preferred.

The expected range of compensation for this role is $105,000 to $125,000 per year. Pay ranges differ by location.
