Position Responsibilities
Works closely with Computation Design Lead in the development of distinct portions of a Project(s) with supervision by Computational Design Lead. Exhibits initiative, process innovation, problem solving, and decision quality with a high attention to precision and accuracy at a task specific level.
Provides computational design input to projects during all phases, including design ideation, geometric modeling, documentation, visualization, and various types of analysis. This includes developing strategies for these tasks and implementing them.
Alongside Computational Design Lead, works closely with design teams to explore geometry strategies (simple and complex), typically collaboratively with architects and structural engineers.
Develop strategies to generate systems-based models using (and developing) code and parametric models. Various types of analysis are embedded in the design process.
Maintain interoperability of workflows and manage data flows.
Produces presentation and deliverables such as diagrams, data visualization, 3D models, drawings, renderings, physical prototypes and animations.
Promotes dialogue between research and development and project applications.
Effectively communicates internally through timely and appropriate written, oral, and visual means.
Creates and innovates with a strong conceptual design ability. Integrates interdisciplinary criteria to effectively move forward the design of a project component.
Actively collaborates at a project team level by critically and constructively evaluating ideas.
Demonstrates a basic understanding of building materials, systems, codes, details and construction techniques. Effectively uses appropriate tools to design and document at all project phases.
Manages time and workload to meet project task deadlines and commitments with frequent interaction and direction from Computational Design Lead.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a degree in Architecture, Mathematics, Computer Science, Design or other related degree.
Demonstrates good algorithmic thinking and ability to develop innovative workflows.
Highly proficiency in coding (e.g. Python, C#, JavaScript) is required.
Experience in data visualization and ability to create engaging visual communication important
A good design eye, and a creative thinker essential.
Interest in creation of architectural geometry, design space exploration, design refinement.
Good story telling ability, communication and presentation skills appreciated.
Passion for integrated design and knowledge of structure or building physics welcomed.
Interest in harnessing new technologies and insights from other adjacent disciplines in the design process.

Compensation for this role is based upon experience, qualifications, location, and education and typically ranges from $60,000 - $64,000.
