The Department of Architecture, College of Architecture at Texas A&M University, invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track faculty position with a nine-month academic appointment, beginning fall of 2026. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Assistant Professor.

The ideal candidate will have a background in architectural design and a promising research agenda in the area of tectonics and building technologies (e.g., architecture and structure, materials and methods, building performance and optimization, and/or building envelopes and simulation)—with experience with a variety of tools including, but not limited to, artificial intelligence (AI).

The responsibilities associated with the position include advancing a robust research agenda; teaching architectural design studios and other courses in the candidate’s area(s) of expertise at all levels (B.S., M.Arch., M.S., and Ph.D.); advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; serving on graduate committees; and participating in the governance, administration, and advancement of the department.

The Department of Architecture consists of approximately 50 full- and part-time faculty and serves over 800 undergraduate and graduate students. The faculty in the Department of Architecture create and disseminate new knowledge in the theory and practice of architectural design, building technology and systems, healthcare design, heritage conservation, and leadership management. The department works creatively to impact society by designing environments that foster economic, social, and ecological responsibility. To achieve this mission, faculty in the department engage in research, teaching, and service in keeping with the important mandate of a land-grant university. Academic programs include the Bachelor of Science in Architecture, the Master of Architecture, the Master of Science in Architecture, and the Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture. The Master of Architecture program offers a professional degree and is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). The department also takes part in the Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure (IPAL) program offered by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). The Department of Architecture is housed within the College of Architecture at Texas A&M University, along with the Department of Construction Science and the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning. The College of Architecture at Texas A&M University is the largest of its kind in the United States. Over 160 faculty members serve approximately 3,000 students in fifteen degree programs. Applicants must hold a terminal degree in architecture (M.Arch.). A Ph.D. in architecture or a closely related field is strongly preferred. Candidates with a record of high-impact research, success in securing external funding, strong contributions to core and integrated design studio teaching, experience with lecture and/or seminar teaching, and a demonstrated commitment to successful student mentoring are highly desired.
