Role Description
We are looking for a Senior Architect with extensive experience in the Academic sector to join our practice, working out of our Washington studio (in Old Town Alexandria). This position will lead Winstanley’s efforts to secure and execute master planning and architectural engagements for private K-12 and higher education academic campuses across the United States. The position requires a strong technical background in design and production, experience as a project team leader and client relationship manager, and demonstrated aptitude and motivation in business development.
Responsibilities
Manage planning and architectural projects from programming through completion.
Establish and maintain close relationships with client organizations.
Within the Academic space, lead project procurement activities including RFP responses and contract negotiations.
Coordinate across project teams to deliver exceptional projects.
Represent the firm in the market, including at industry events and public engagement opportunities.
Work alongside Principals on strategic efforts to manage and grow the Academic practice.
Provide mentorship within project teams and the firm.
Maintain active professional licenses in key states.
Qualifications
10+ years experience in the Academic sector, with civic project experience a plus.
Proven track record in business development, with established sector and industry relationships.
Strong skills in project management and technical design production.
Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively with a team.
Exceptional communication skills, including client communication and presentation delivery.
Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and academic planning standards.
Superior academic credentials and architectural registration.
